Biography
My name is Barbara Karakyriakou, and I am a research technician at Mass General Cancer Center for Research, where I specialize in epigenomics.
In May 2019, I graduated cum laude from Harvard Extension School with an ALB degree in Biology and double minor in Mathematics and Computer Science.
For two consecutive academic years (2018-2019 and 2019-2020), I attended classes as a special student at the department of Biostatistics at Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. My future plane is to pursue PhD studies in Biological and Biomedical Sciences.
I also have a passion for programming and computer science, and I was a teaching fellow for CS50, and CSCI E33a, Web Programming with Python and JavaScript.
Website Project
This website was created as part of a final project for CSCI E-12 Fundamentals of Website Development, a computer science class that I took in spring of 2018. The instructor of the class and course head is David Heitmeyer.
The idea of my project was influenced by a game that I was playing with my former colleague and very good friend, Brad Stevens, when we were traveling together. The goal was to guess the capitals and nicknames of each state. We are both avid travelers and geography learners, and as we both have been working for over 20 years in the airline industry, we have been enjoying the flight priviledges and perks that came with our job.
